Be Innovative in Energy Use is Greenpeace's Demand of Apple

Dump coal production from its energy consumption line-up, says Greenpeace to Apple.

Editor's note: This article is an update on Tuesday's Greenpeace Protests Apple article and contains new information obtained from a Bay City News Service report. Greenpeace activists who landed at One Infinite Loop early Tuesday morning to protest Apple’s use of “unclean” energy at its North Carolina data center demanded Apple be more innovative in its energy production choices, while reportedly using Apple devices themselves. Two activists—who barricaded themselves in a giant pod they were calling a “survival device” with a likeness of Apple’s logo painted on it—were arrested. The 8-foot by 10-foot structure has been used in separate protests such as to prevent arctic drilling. Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies responded to …

Greenpeace Protests Apple

Two arrested, four dress like giant iPhones, as Greenpeace calls on Apple to commit to renewable energy.

Greenpeace activists landed at One Infinite Loop early Tuesday morning to protest Apple’s use of “unclean” energy at its North Carolina data center, according to reports. Two activists—who barricaded themselves in a giant pod they were calling a “survival device” with a likeness of Apple’s logo on it—were arrested. The 8-foot by 10-foot structure has been used in separate protests such as to prevent arctic drilling. Four other activists dressed as giant iPhones with “fully functional screens” across their midsection that showed messages the group says come from Facebook and Twitter supporters, according to AppleInsider. Additional messages from supporters were projected on Apple’s headquarters. The protest is one among several staged …

Fill 'er Up: Production Squeeze Causes Price Jump

The cheapest gas in Cupertino can be found at both Rotten Robbie and Valero for $4.09 a gallon.

It's not looking too good for gas prices in the Bay Area, even as national prices have started to take a dip. Prices in the region jumped by as much as 16 cents over the course of the week. The increase is the result of several California refiners slowing down production in order to conduct maintenance and repairs, according to a San Jose Mercury News article. Statewide, the average price per gallon was $4.19 versus the national average of $3.80. While the rising trend should only be temporary, Cupertino Patch tracked down the cheapest gas in town to save drivers a few cents a gallon. While all Cupertino prices have skyrocketed to over $4 a gallon, they ranged anywhere from $4.09 at Rotten Robbie to $4.59 at 76.  Gas station
