Mayfair Court Apartments Will Be Home to 93 Families

For 93 families in San Jose, Monday marked a beginning for new affordable homes in their future.

Officials from the City of San Jose and USA Properties Fund, broke ground on a $23 million construction in San
Jose. USA Properties partnered with Pacific West
Communities  and Central Valley Coalition for Affordable

Housing, to create a 93-unit housing complex on McCreery Avenue.

“The construction of the 93-unit Mayfair Court Apartment
project will have a significant positive impact to our community and to those who are in need of housing assistance,” said San Jose Councilmember Xavier Campos. “Affordable housing serves as an anchor for a more holistic community bringing revitalization in many needed areas that affect our neighborhoods. I am extremely excited for the families that will be living at the Mayfair Court Apartments.”

The Mayfair Court Apartments will be built on a vacant
property at 65 McCreery Avenue, near Alum Rock Road. By using vacant land in an already developed area, the project is considered infill development, relying on
existing infrastructure.

Geoff Brown, President of USA Properties Fund, applauded
the partnership with the state and city.

“We are pleased to get started on this project and to be
able to create quality housing for San Jose residents,” said Geoff Brown, President of USA Properties Fund. “In particular, this infill development utilizes existing
infrastructure in the city and provides residents with access to public transit and other services.”

The $23 million project is expected to create 74
construction jobs and 29 permanent jobs through the economic activity of the complex’s residents.

This housing will include two- and three-bedroom
apartments with on-site, below-ground level parking. Families with household incomes ranging from 30% to 50% of the area median income for Santa Clara County will be eligible to live in the homes.

Construction of the Mayfair Court Apartments is expected
to be completed in 2013.

Residents interested in applying for one of the apartments should contact USA Multifamily Management at

It's difficult to know what's going on in a kid's mind unless they feel confident enough to open upRead More and talk. And this program helps us adults to learn to listen differently.

I too was at this Challenge Day. It was my 6th. I first volunteered because I watched the programRead More on MTV "If You Really Knew Me" when my son was being severely bullied in middle school and saw the program was offered when he was a freshman in high school. My company strongly supports me volunteering for this and allows me to take the day off work to attend. I am continually humbled by what these teens share and saddened at what some of them have experienced in their short lives. This program is so valuable. I think every school should offer it and every parent should attend. It helps us to realize that we need to think twice before we judge or assume things about others when we know nothing about them. It is the volunteering opportunity that I look forward to participating in every year.
