(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) – September 16, 2013. PODS® of San Francisco has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to collect tools and building supplies to construct new homes and make critical repairs for low-income residents in Oakland and San Jose. PODS will provide three containers—one in Oakland, another in San Carlos, and the third in San Jose—to collect donations to support Habitat for Humanity home building and repair projects.
Donations to the Habitat for Humanity ReStores can include newer, working appliances, sinks, low-flow toilets and pipes, cabinets and counter surfaces, furniture, windows, lights, flooring, lumber, and tools. ReStores sell donated building items, furniture and fixtures to the public and use the proceeds to fund Habitat for Humanity projects.

One major project that the PODS Container donations will support is the Carter Work Project events in Oakland and San Jose. Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to appear at the October building event in Oakland. PODS will also assist with the project, which will include building 12 new homes in Oakland, home repair projects, as well as demolishing an abandoned structure, and building benches and shade structures in community centers in both cities.
“PODS is proud to be part of this Habitat for Humanity project that will help so many people realize their dream of having a home,” said Hill Terra, Territory Manager of PODS of San Francisco.
