Young Genius' Blowing Speech & Debate Results

On Saturday, April 12th more than a thousand students were entered in well over a dozen events at the Santa Clara University High School Speech and Debate Tournament. After two days of grueling competition Young Genius Speech and Debate Team members were champions in Extemporaneous Speech, Impromptu Speech, Original Oratory and Public Forum Debate, and many others who made it into finals and semifinals.

Young Genius students were entered into Varsity divisions in a tournament designed for high school students. This means that Young Genius students who are predominantly in middle school were competing successfully against students who are 3 and 4 grades farther along in school. And in some cases, Young Genius students are now competing against students who were trained as middle school students at our center and are now competing for their high school teams. Thus, even in face of such tough opposition our center still boasted phenomenal results.

We believe that these competitive victories are a side effect of our main goal − education. Hence, Young Genius’ central values are the attention each student receives through small classes and our renowned staff as well as our challenging curriculum and hands on experience at local and national tournaments. A look at the National Speech and Debate League’s website ranks Young Genius as the fastest growing program in the United States.

Now that this tournament is a part of our forensic history Young Genius Team turns its gaze forward into the future. We are now in preparation to make a run at being the first ever California Middle School State Champions at an upcoming tournament at Berkeley in the end of May and The National Tournament at Overland Park, Kansas in June.
