Amazing Taste: A Health Food Cooking Competition And Family Event At Quinlan Community Center

Cooks who want to show off their cooking skills may win prizes, courtesy of Ding Ding TV and Distinctive Taste magazine, as the pair host a health food cooking competition at Quinlan Center July 31.

Knowing how to cook healthy meals is award enough for some, but a cooking competition at Quinlan Community Center could beef up that award with a prize of up to $300.

A health food cooking competition and family event—hosted by , the first Internet TV station in Silicon Valley, and Distinctive Taste magazine, a Chinese-language food magazine—will take place at July 31 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Besides prizes for three winners, every contesting group will receive a gift.

Cooking contestants will be in groups of two or three. Each group will prepare a low-fat, low-sodium and highly nutritious dish in front of the judge panel and the audience. The competition is expected to draw 250 to 300 people including Campbell Councilman Evan Low who is expected to attend.

For entertainment, Ding Ding TV and Distinctive Taste magazine invited some performing artists and children to put on a variety of performances. The most notable among them is Suhua Ni, a renowned soprano from China.

The event, Amazing Taste, can be viewed live on Ding Ding TV's website, www.dingding.tv, and will allow viewers to vote for their favorite contesting group.

Diana Ding, a member of , is founder and talk show host of Ding Ding TV, will speak Chinese and English at the Amazing Taste event as master of ceremonies.

While the organizers of Amazing Taste are from the Chinese community, Ding said everyone is welcome to enter the contest or join the live audience.
