Cupertino is a 'Very Walkable' City, States Report Released Today

Walk Score report, which ranks 'walkability' in cities around the U.S., gives Cupertino an 80 out of 100.

Cupertino is a city of flat grounds, mild temperatures and many side-by-side businesses—a good place for ditching the car and walking?

Cupertino was deemed a “Very Walkable” city in the Seattle-based Walk Score released Thursday, receiving an 80 out of 100.

A score of 70-89 means that most errands can be accomplished on foot, whereas a score of 90-100 means than no car whatsoever is required.

New York topped the list of the most walkable cities, with a score of 85.3. But San Francisco was a close second, at 84.9.

The most walkable destination in Cupertino is the , which is in close vicinity to many daily amenities. Kumud Groceries is .25 miles away, C.B. Eaton Elementary School is .16 miles away and Wilson Park is .47 miles away.

According to Walk Score, homes in walkable neighborhoods are worth more than those in less walkable neighborhoods. Furthermore, the average resident of a walkable neighborhood weighs 8 pounds less than someone who lives in a sprawling neighborhood.
