Parade Your Pooch
In celebration of Bastille Day, LB Steak in Santana Row is hosting a “Poodles on Parade” event on Sunday, July 15. Although poodles are featured in the title, all dog breeds are welcomed to come strut their stuff down the red carpet.
The cost is $10 and the proceeds benefit the Hospice of the Valley’s pet companion program. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed, most talented and crowd favorite. For more details, visit the Santana Row website.
See a Movie
Downtown Campbell hosts outdoor movies on Friday nights now through August. is in the parking lot next to near North Central and East Campbell avenues. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m., and the movie starts as soon as it’s dark enough.
Sundown Cinema is quite popular, and organizer Sheldon Chang recommends dog owners seek a spot toward the right or left side of the lot, because there’s a little more room. Guard Against Rattlesnakes
If you and your dog like to go hiking, you might want to sign your dog up for a rattlesnake aversion clinic. Rattlesnakes are prevalent in Santa Clara County trails and about six people are bitten each year. Rattlesnake avoidance training teaches your dog to avoid rattlesnakes through the sense of sight, scent and sound. The rattlesnakes used in the training are muzzled so that no harm comes to you or your dog.
The Northern California Alaskan Malamute Association (NCAMA) is hosting a clinic on July 28 and 29 in Livermore. The cost is $75. For more information, visit the NCAMA website.

Meet Alex, a 6-month-old American pit bull mix. Alex had one of his legs amputated because of an injury, but that hasn’t slowed him down any. He’s a exuberant, loving pup looking for a family who can work with him on basic puppy obedience and in turn, he’ll be your faithful friend.
