Eight Cupertino Boy Scouts Achieve Eagle Rank

The organization's highest honor was bestowed upon the local scouts during a ceremony Saturday at the Quinlan Community Center.

Boy Scout Troop 453 of Cupertino honored its newest Eagle Scouts during the troop's Eagle Court of Honor celebration Saturday at the .

In a festive ceremony with slide shows and speeches, Jimmy Chen, Justin Hsiung, Charlton Lin and Howard Yang of , Lance Chao, Richard Jang and Robert Ying of Lynbrook High School and Ruiqi Wang of Amador Valley High School were honored for their achievements in scouting.  

Eagle Rank is the highest achievable rank in the Boy Scouts of America organization. Only about five percent of all scouts attain the honor.

To earn the rank, candidates must lead their troop in various posts and positions, earn 21 merit badges for different subjects ranging from essential skills to the arts and sciences, organize and lead a service project in their community and prove that they live by the Scout Oath and Law

The title of Eagle Scout is held for life.

All of Saturday's honorees, having satisfied every requirement to acheive Eagle Rank, were presented their awards in front of their troop, families and friends.
