Get Out in Cupertino: Cinema at Sundown, Geekdad.com and the Beach Boys

The Beach Boys are in town to rock the night away and the Farmer's Market continues to offer anything and everything you'll need during a summer shopping trip. You can find them both this week in Cupertino.

Where/When: Saratoga's Mountain Winery, 14831 Pierce Rd., Saratoga. Show begins at 7:30 pm on Sunday evening. 

Why Go: The legendary California rockers bring their classic jams to the Bay Area for a one night stay at the Mountain Winery. What better way to close out your weekend than to take in the smooth vocals to "Good Vibrations" and "Endless Summer" one more time.

Where/When: 2731 N. First St., San Jose. Open daily until August 31. 

Why Go: Blood donors can beat the heat and get a cool ice cream treat after you're done. The American Red Cross "Pint For a Pint" promotion runs through the end of August and allows any donor that donates a pint of blood to receive a coupon for a free pint of ice cream at the nearest Baskin Robbins location.

Where/When: Memorial Park, Thursday, 8:30 pm.

Why Go: The summer movie series continues this week with the showing of National Treasure, starring Nicolas Cage as archaeologist Benjamin Franklin Gates. Gates is on a hunt in search of a missing treasure. The movie is a great history lesson wrapped up nicely inside an action flick. Come enjoy a night out in the park with the family this week.

Where/When: Cubberly Theatre, 4000 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto. Wednesday, 6:30 pm to 9 pm. 

Why Go: Ken Denmead, editor and publisher of GeekDad.com, will dive into the world of hands on fun for the family. Presented by the Commonwealth Club, Denmead will discuss the best Do-It-Yourself projects, experiments and weekend adventures. Denmead will also be available to sign copies of his book after the presentation. 

Pricing: $20 non-members, $12 members and $7 for students.

Where/When: Sears parking lot at Vallco Shopping Center, Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Why Go: A weekly event, the outdoor market atmosphere only gets better in the summertime. Beat the afternoon heat and do some shopping through the wide array of vendors that sell everything from beets to fresh-cut flowers.
