A winning Powerball lottery ticket bought in May at a gas station in San Jose and worth more than $250,000 has not been turned in and will expire Nov. 11, California Lottery officials said Thursday.

The ticket, purchased May 15 at Capitol Shell at 1601 N. Capitol Ave., matched five winning numbers but missed the Powerball multi-state jackpot number, lottery officials said.

Should the winner fail to turn in the ticket by Nov. 11, the prize amount of $256,317 would be transferred to California's public school system, officials said.
