Know someone who volunteers in their free time to make their community or the world a better place? Do you know someone in Cupertino who goes above and beyond the call of duty? Someone who sees a problem and works to fix it? Someone who's impacted the lives of others?
In 2011, three of the 12 recipients were Californians. Their contributions ranged from helping veterans with mental illness, and who are homeless and disabled. Another created a music program for under-served children.
[And, our Mountain View Patch Editor has already covered one winner! A 2010 recipient, Jorge Muñoz, from Woodhaven in New York City, delivered food to hungry people in the streets of Jackson Heights, Queens! He was also a CNN Heroes finalist!]
