Somebody had to pay to get Buttons off of her lawn and delivered to this Cupertino lawn. Wouldn't you pay to get him off of yours, too?
That's the story behind how Buttons the pink flamingo landed in this yard. A friend of the homeowner had to pay to get the Pepto-Bismol-colored bird off of her lawn or "keep him forever."
Donations raised in the homeowner's name—who prefers to be unnamed—were made for the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure and the person who raised the most had the honor of carrying the banner in the opening ceremonies.
"I can’t express how honored and touched I was to learn this story when Buttons' journey ended on my front lawn," said the homeowner, who is a cancer survivor.
In order to get Buttons to fly this Cupertino coop it will take some fundraising, but this cancer survivor wants to sit pretty in pink for a bit and enjoy the view.
