Poll: Should the Community Support Bobbi in Removing Her Name From the Coffee Shop?

Bobbi Thorne passionately believes her name should come off the diner—Bobbi's Coffee Shop—she once owned.

Bobbi Thorne says "Why can't I get my name off?" and she wants to know if the community will back her.

Thorne felt our leaned toward encouraging people to vote to keep the name Bobbi on .

She says it's simple to just slide out the yellow sign and replace it with a sign with the new restaurant name on it. Thorne is troubled with the reasons the diner was closed on March 9—for the current owner's failure to pay rent—and what she, and some others, claim that the quality of food and service deteriorated. To Thorne, her name is her reputation and she wants it preserved to what it once was when she ran the shop.

So, here's a new poll. Please vote and tell us in the Comments Section why you voted the way you did.

Since the place lost its reputation and charm, it would be wise to change the name. Dancer's Coffee Shop has a nice ring to it, and the family's roots to the valley will be an immediate drawing card. If the food is good, and they don't charge an arm and a leg for a watered down cup of coffee, I will support the place. If not, meh.

Susan, your comments are going to make Bobbi very happy.

If she did not want her name to remain, her only chance to have ensured that is when she sold it - then again, that would have likely reduced her selling price at that time. Plain & simple facts are youo can NOT have it both ways Bobbi!

Dale, from my conversations with Bobbi she's told me that it's the way the most recent owner ran the business that upsets her, not the way Sally Carpenter ran it.

It would depend what the contract said when Bobbi sold it. If it provided that the name Bobbi came with the restaurant, then legally her name should stay. Having said that however, isn't it more important for a new owner to spend his/her time restoring the restaurant and getting it operating versus fighting with Bobbi over the use of her name? There is enough fighting in the world, does the new owner really want to fight over the name of a restaurant? Wouldn't it be a nice gesture if the new owner just changed the name?
