Snog in the City

Where to kiss in Cupertino.

The Urban Dictionary defines snogging this way:

1. verb; to interface passionately with another being, creating a field of physical obsession and focused arousal centered on the lips, mouth and tongue.

2. verb; to play tonsil hockey.

In other words, to kiss. So pucker up, Cupertino, and check out this list of some of the most interesting, if not romantic places within city limits to lock lips.

1. AMC CUPERTINO SQUARE

Since the first images flickered on the big screen, movie theaters have been places where people bond in the dark. As multiplexes replaced movie palaces, the back row replaced the balcony as the hot spot for couples who may be more interested in the action off screen than on.

Then came IMAX, which provides an excuse to head to the back of the theater, since the wrap-around experience is more intense there (I'm talking about the screen, people!). Cupertino Square's IMAX theater is no exception, although the movies screened there are generally more about action than passion. There's nothing like a good scary movie to get loved ones to cling to each other.

2. CUPERTINO LIBRARY AND CIVIC PLAZA

The local forecast calls for sunny skies on Valentine's Day, and the library fronts a plaza with a well-kept lawn, nice public art, plenty of seating and beautiful, soothing fountains. So if you're up for a little afternoon delight, take your date to the library, check out Shakespeare's love sonnets, then snuggle up to your honey on one of the benches out front and start comparing each other to a summer's day.

3. McCLELLAN RANCH PARK

Blackberry Farm may be closed for the season, but there's at least one picnic table available at the adjacent McClellan Ranch Park for couples whose idea of romance is "a jug of wine, a loaf of bread and thou beside me singing in the wilderness." Even if your love can't carry a tune in a bucket, there's plenty of wilderness to behold at this park, be it in its grassy meadow or the section of Stevens Creek that flows along its edge.

The park is also home to a community garden run by the Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County. Some of these gardeners grow flowers as well as vegetables, so if you play your cards right, you might be able to finagle a fresh bouquet for your sweetie.

4.THE BLUE PHEASANT

With dancing nightly in its homey lounge, the Blue Pheasant is a favorite among more mature couples—and singles—who still love the night life and have got to boogie. Did we mention the singles? If you're looking for a little romance or just want a place to get your flirt on this Valentine's Day, the denizens of the Pheasant are here to help.

5. TRAFFIC LIGHT AT BOLLINGER ROAD AND BLANEY AVENUE

If you're traveling west on Bollinger alone late at night and get stuck at this light, you'll have plenty of time to call a friend to dish about how your date went before another vehicle comes down Blaney and trips the sensor in your favor.

On the other hand, if you're not alone, you can take these long minutes to express to your date how much you enjoyed your time together.
