The Health Trust Welcomes Two New Trustees

William Rewak, SJ, Chancellor of Santa Clara University and Darren A. Cde Baca, CIMA, CFP, regional Vice President for Ivy Funds join the Silicon Valley non-profit in its goal to make the region the healthiest in the country.

announced the newest members of its Board of Trustees Thursday.

Santa Clara University Chancellor William Rewak and Ivy Funds Vice President Darren A. Cde Baca join an 18-member board, with members from organizations such as EMQ Families First, a San Jose State University Dean and representatives from Blue Shield of California, El Camino Hospital and Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center.

“I am excited that Darren Cde Baca and Father Rewak will help The Health Trust continue its successful work,” said Health Trust CEO Frederick J. Ferrer in the release. “These two gifted individuals bring skills and experience that will help us broaden our reach in the community and build for the future.

Rewak has served as President of Santa Clara University from 1976 to 1988 and in his role as Chancellor, he assists in civic engagement, fundraising and other areas, the release stated.

Baca has 30 years in the investment industry and before joining Ivy Funds in April of 2006, he held management positions with Dreyfus, The Royce Funds and PaineWebber (now UBS), the release stated.

“In these challenging economic times, we are looking to having Mr. Cde Baca’s expertise on our finance committee,” Ferrer said. “And with Father Rewak on board, we hope to deepen our ties to Santa Clara University, particularly in light of the university’s new Public Health Science degree program.”

The Health Trust is a nonprofit foundation headquartered in Campbell and provides grants, services and advocacy to reach its goal of making Silicon Valley the healthiest region in the country.
