Viewfinder: Camp Galileo

If a chicken on the head of a camp director sounds like fun, Camp Galileo provided it at St. Joseph's of Cupertino School.

Founded in Palo Alto, Camp Galileo celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The program focuses on what it calls a unique method of learning it calls the Galileo Innovation Approach (GIA.)

GIA teaches skills and processes geared at nurturing an “innovator’s mindset” through hands-on and process-based learning. By the looks on the children’s faces and the chicken on the head of Julie Barbano, the director of Cupertino Camp Galileo, it seems the program throws in a little fun, too.
