Sunny skies are expected to return by the weekend.

Tuesday’s dry, sunny weather is expected to turn wet tonight with a rainy, cold front passing through the region, a National Weather Service forecaster said.

By 10 p.m., most of the Bay Area will see some drizzle, forecaster Steve Anderson said.

"Everyone is going to get a chance of rain," he said.

On Bay Area peaks of 3,000 feet and above, a light dusting of snow is possible as temperatures plummet overnight.

On Wednesday, there is a slight chance of thunderstorms and light rain is forecast throughout the region.

By the weekend it will warm up, with highs in the mid- to upper 60s, and no rain expected, Anderson said.

"It will be a great weekend," he said.

Anderson said a several-day stretch of damp, cold weather is typical for this time of year.

"It may feel colder because we haven't had any true winter" weather recently, he said.
