We’re blessed with pleasant summer weather compared with the rest of the country, and it’s a good reason to get out and play with your furry friends in tow. Just make sure to bring plenty of water and .

Go Wine Tasting

Pack a picnic and head to Kirigin Cellars in Gilroy for a little wine tasting and relaxation. Kirigin Cellars is one of the few wineries in the South Bay that allows and even encourages people to bring their dogs. There are 11 acres of open space, and the winery regularly hosts dog clubs and agility events. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Take a Walk

On Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m., members of Society Dog in Los Gatos take a stroll through town and eat dinner at a dog-friendly restaurant—also known as “Yappy Hour.” To join them, call 408-671-3417 to let them know you’re coming.

And if you’re looking for something to do on a Wednesday evening, head to downtown Campbell from 6-8 p.m. for Waggin’ Wednesdays. Many of the Campbell shops welcome pets, and there are a number of restaurant patios for dinner.

See a Movie

Campbell hosts open-air movies on Friday nights now through August. Sundown Cinema is in the parking lot next to Orchard Valley Coffee near North Central and East Campbell avenues. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m., and the movie starts as soon as it’s dark enough. Sundown Cinema is quite popular, and organizer Sheldon Chang recommends dog owners seek a spot toward the right or left side of the lot, because there’s a little more room.

In Cupertino, you can catch an outdoor movie on Thursday nights at Memorial Park amphitheater. Movies begin at 8:30 p.m. and usually wrap up right around 10 p.m. This week’s feature is Iron Man, and next week’s is National Treasure.

Attend a Concert

The town of Los Gatos has a couple of options if you’d like to go listen to music with your canine pal. On Saturday, hear the band, “Celtic Heart,” at Vasona Lake County Park. This concert is the last of the Vasona Vibrations series of family-friendly concerts. On Sunday’s, catch Music in the Park at the Los Gatos Civic Center lawn. This week’s band is “Petty Theft,” a Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers tribute band. Music in the Park starts at 5 p.m. and continues each Sunday through the end of August.

Pet of the Week

Meet Bandit, a Siberian Husky who will steal your heart. He’s a 1½-year-old boy described as “smart, high energy and talkative.” Bandit enjoys long walks, morning runs and snuggling next to you at night. He gets along with other dogs and is good with children.

For more information about Bandit and other dogs available for adoption, email his foster mother at Bay Area Siberian Husky Rescue in Campbell.
