Writing from Brussels, Belgium where he's lecturing, Los Gatos' resident—Steve Wozniak— says plans announced in August that he's going to become an Australian citizen and eventually move to the Land Down Under are a few years off.
"I would be heading toward residency in Australia except that my current life has me travelling a lot, and living in Australia would add time and stress to getting around constantly," Woz wrote Los Gatos Patch, which sought comment after one of his former properties was listed for sale on the redfin.com website.
That home, located at 300 Santa Rosa Dr., was owned by Woz 10 years ago, he said. It's now on the market for $4.5 million and is using Woz's name to get some attention.
After that post went live Sunday, several town residents emailed Los Gatos Patch to tell us that the Woz's current home at 16400 Blackberry Hill Rd. is not for sale.
Woz said he intends to keep his town residence even after he attains Australian citizenship.
"I have no intention of selling my Los Gatos home. My wife Janet and I like it and Los Gatos very much," he said.
The Apple co-founder added that he owned two homes in Los Gatos for about 20 years. He would live in one and have friends or relatives occupy the other. "I liked them both so much that I had a difficult time determining which one to sell. Eventually my kids' preference helped make the decision," Woz said in his email.
He signed his email: "Cheers, mate, -- Woz."
