Go Fly a Kite

A session on college admissions, a library book sale, a kite flying festival, a classical concert by the youth orchestra and a flea market for the swim team are our suggestions for this week's Cupertino Kids Planner.

Why Go:  This is a great opportunity for you and your high school student to get some tips about what college admission officials are looking for in those college applications.

Where/When: Flint Center, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd. Sunday, 2:30 p.m. 

Why Go:  The Youth Orchestra will perfrom Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and Dukas' Sorcerer's Apprentice in its May concert. Another highlight of the concert will be performances by the winners of the California Youth Symphony Senior Concerto Competition.

Where/When: 969 E Caribbean Drive, Sunnyvale, Sunday, 1 p.m. 

Why Go: Go fly a kite. If someone suggests that, they may be telling you to head to Baylands Park for the Basanti kite flying festival. The India Community Center in Partnership with Pakistani American Cultural Center offers the community, Basant the kite flying festival. Besides the kites, there will be bhangra performances and for those who don't have kite-flyng down, kite flying classes.

Pricing: Free, except for a parking charge at the park

Where/When: , 22090 Rae Lane, Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

Why Go: Support the Cupertino Hills Sharks youth swim team by going to their flea market and at the same time find some great deals.It's a win-win.
