Apple Deals Swiftly with Report of iPhone Death
The company issued a statement expressing sympathy and promising a probe of the case.

News spread quickly across the web and social media Monday that a 23-year-old woman in China, Ma Ailun, was electrocuted when she answered her iPhone 5 as it was charging.
Apple’s response was swift, issuing the following statement, “We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic incident and offer our condolences to the Ma family. We will fully investigate and cooperate with authorities in this matter.”

The incident was first reported by Chinese news agency Xinhaunet.
Apple’s closest competitor Samsung is dealing with some negative publicity of its own. Last week a Swiss teen reportedly suffered third degree burns when she said her Galaxy S3 exploded in her pocket.
