Cupertino Indian Restaurant and Bakery Takes New Name

Now called Peacock Indian Restaurant, the lunchtime favorite has more seating and menu items.

Peacock Indian Restaurant is the new look and name for Ram Gopal’s on De Anza Boulevard and Rodrigues Avenue.

It’s now the seventh Peacock Indian Restaurant in the Bay Area, with other locations in Mountain View, San Jose, Santa Clara, Fremont, Dublin and Belmont.

The restaurant closed for a few days for improvements and reopened March 16 with a new name and sign, new carpet, expanded seating and a bigger buffet, Gopal says.

Soon breakfast will be served on Saturdays and Sundays. Evening hours have been extended to 10 p.m. and beer and wine will be added to the menu in about a month.

Peacock is “famous for its biryani (chicken and rice) dish,” says Mahesh Nilani, a frequent diner, plus all the dishes the community has come to know and love are still there.

The food there is addictive, says Cupertino City Manager Dave Knapp.

Daily to-go lunch specials between $10 to $12 are also on the horizon.
