Crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside with a slight tang, and free for a year. That’s what Boudin SF is offering the first 100 customers in line when it opens the doors at 9 a.m. on March 21.
“They do it at every new Boudin SF they open. People camp out the night before,” says spokeswoman Erin Cain.
The first spot in line is reserved for Cupertino-based West Valley Community Services, which also will be the recipient of Boudin’s day-old bread, according to the nonprofit that serves low-income clients in the West Valley. WVCS receives support from Second Harvest Food Bank in stocking the food pantry that services 2,000 people every year.
The free loaf of bread is limited to a 1-lb. loaf of sourdough, and if someone were to take advantage of the loaf-a-day giveaway it would have a value of more than $1,300.
Doors will open at 9 a.m. to let in the lucky 100 bread winners then at 10 a.m. to the general public.
Located at 20682 Stevens Creek Blvd. in the Cupertino Crossroads shopping center—at De Anza and Stevens Creek boulevards—the restaurant’s regular hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of our second Silicon Valley location in Cupertino,” says CEO Dave Wolfgram in a statement. “This opening comes on the heels of our Sunnyvale opening, and we anticipate another warm reception from our customers. As always, it’s a pleasure bringing a little bit of San Francisco to the South Bay and supporting our community through Second Harvest.”
Famous for its San Francisco sourdough bread Boudin SF will offer dine-in breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a Web-to-Go service, where customers can order lunch or dinner online through a simple three-step process at www.Boudinwebtogo.com.
The menu includes Boudin classic sandwiches, artisan sandwiches, grilled cheese, baguette burgers, soups, chili, salads and more.
