Join Bitter+Sweet Coffee Celebrate its 1-Year Anniversary

Specials and events such as a book signing and brewing class fill the week at Bitter+Sweet Coffee and Dessert Bar.

Any extra weight put on by Cupertinians this past year may be the fault of . After all, she’s been serving delicious coffee drinks and scrumptious desserts at to the community a full year since her July 23, 2011 opening. And starting Monday with a weeklong one-year anniversary celebration she’s got specials and events to tempt you in yet again.

The highlight events of the week include a book signing by Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream owners Sean Vahey and Jake Godby. Bitter+Sweet carries a variety of the unique flavors, including the ever popular Secret Breakfast, a flavor sensation from a combination bourbon and cornflakes—can you say breakfast of champions?

Their book aptly titled Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream Book, gives out the secret recipes for Secret Breakfast and others, as well as recipes for sundaes and toppings.

The other special event is a brewing class by San Francisco-based Sightglass Coffee.

Here’s the full line-up of specials and events:

MONDAY, July 16: Buy one get one free (Drinks only)

TUESDAY, July 17: Bring your own cup—50¢ off 

WEDNESDAY , July 18: Humphry Slocombe book signing 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

THURSDAY, July 19: Sightglass Coffee brewing class 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

FRIDAY, July 20: Affogato special price $3.50

SATURDAY, July 21: Double Fivestars points

SUNDAY, July 22: Double Fivestars points

MONDAY, July 23: Free coffee; Guest barista, DJ 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

ALL WEEK July 16 through 23: Free t-shirts for purchases of $12 or more; Free coasters; and a raffle.

I too was at this Challenge Day. It was my 6th. I first volunteered because I watched the programRead More on MTV "If You Really Knew Me" when my son was being severely bullied in middle school and saw the program was offered when he was a freshman in high school. My company strongly supports me volunteering for this and allows me to take the day off work to attend. I am continually humbled by what these teens share and saddened at what some of them have experienced in their short lives. This program is so valuable. I think every school should offer it and every parent should attend. It helps us to realize that we need to think twice before we judge or assume things about others when we know nothing about them. It is the volunteering opportunity that I look forward to participating in every year.
