The Lines are Back at JC Penney

The retail chain is still struggling, but lines are forming at the Cupertino store.

J.C. Penney has been struggling to regain customers after the retail giant scrapped its popular coupons and went to set prices. The idea tanked, along with company revenue.

But coupons are back and last week I headed to Penney’s at Vallco Shopping Mall, coupons in hand. I wasn’t alone.

Even though I was there midweek, and mid-afternoon, a line five customers deep formed in the women’s department.

Sales associate Molly confirmed what I was seeing—sales have been picking up in Cupertino.
