Apple announced last week that 75 percent of its corporate facilities and data centers are powered by energy from renewable sources, including solar, wind, hydro and geothermal power. Apple will be producing enough onsite renewable energy—167 million kWh—to power the equivalent of 17,600 homes for one year.

The iPhone maker added two-step verification for Apple ID and iCloud users to provide an additional layer of security. When logging in from a new device, users will be required to enter an automatically generated code from a secondary device in addition to a password.

Massive Dynamics

After acquiring PrintForge 3D Ltd., the Hong Kong-based developer of 3D printers earlier this month, Massive Dynamics received its first shipment of 3D printers this week. The company has partnered with technologist Jonathan J. Howard and Rochester Consulting Team to review and assess opportunities for further enhancements.

Seagate Technology

Seagate Wireless Plus, a 1TB hard drive with a built-in battery, media server, and Wi-Fi router that retails at $199.99, received an excellent rating from PC Magazine. With Seagate Wireless Plus, you can stream video and music files to your smartphones, tablets, and laptops anywhere without having to worry about an internet connection.
