A Touching Reunion

I had the pleasure of hosting Tsutae Tanaka in my home during the 35th anniversary visit of delegates from our sister city of Toyokawa, Japan.  This was not Mrs. Tanaka's first visit to Cupertino because 25 years ago, she was an Elementary school principal who led a delegation of students in the annual student exchange program run by the Cupertino Toyokawa Sister Cities program in conjunction with the Cupertino Union School District.  Mrs. Tanaka's host 25 years ago was Pat DeMarlo (former CUSD Assistant Superintendent) and I arranged for them to meet one evening.   I was so touched to witness their reunion after so many years! They shared photos and stories, translated by Tani Minor (another of the visiting Toyokawa delegates, and daughter of Mrs. Tanaka).
