Celebrating a 25 year long friendship

This year, Cupertino and Toyokawa, Japan  celebrate 35 years as sister cities.

Cupertino hosted 22 visitors from Toyokawa from July 9 - 15, 2013. Visitors were hosted in the homes of various Cupertino families.  Pictured are Virgil and Trish Klein who hosted Isako and Tokuyoshi Imaizumi (order in photo).  These two couples met 25 years ago and have maintained their sister city relationship ever since. Reunions have occurred with the sister city visits that happen every five years and the couples have met outside of the official city exchange program, sharing family milestones including the Kleins traveling to Japan for a wedding.

The foursome is pictured here with a plaque that is displayed at the Cupertino Community Hall.  The plaque commemorates one of the sister city anniversaries, a gift from Toyokawa, Japan.
