City Names Dave Brandt, a Cupertino Native, to City Manager Post

Brandt returns home in September from Redmond, Oregon, where he currently is the city manager.

The City of Cupertino welcomes back home David Brandt as the new city manager.

“I am excited to be part of such a dynamic and diverse community as Cupertino,” Brandt said.

Brandt is currently the city manager of Redmond, Oregon—a city of about 26,000—a post he has held since 2009.

Prior to Redmond he was assistant city manager in Alameda.

“Cupertino has a long tradition of service excellence,” said Mayor Mark Santoro. “Our city council felt that Mr. Brandt would be able to continue that tradition and successfully meet the expectations of our council and community.”

The city council selected Brandt after a four-month nationwide search.

“We were fortunate to have a strong pool of applicants and David emerged as the best choice—hardworking, smart a good listener and a leader. He will be a great asset to Cupertino,” said Councilmember Rod Sinks.

Brandt will take over for interim city manager Amy Chan on Sept. 10. Chan, a retired Sunnyvale city manager took the post when Dave Knapp left the job in April.
