Guess Where I Was When I Took This Photo?

How well do you know Cupertino? Look at the photo and guess where I was standing when I took the picture.

Here's how this game works: I take a photo of an ordinary-looking building in Cupertino, post it here and ask the readers to guess where I was standing at the time I took the photo.

It's amazingly easy for some (grrr) but I did manage to put faithful recently but only by employing a Photoshop filter. Through the several weeks this column has been running I've managed to annoy one character——enough that he's building an army to defeat me. (.)

Hey, I'll take y'all on; I'm not easily deterred.

We'd love to have others join us in this game—and it is just that. It's all just for fun. Take a look at this week's image and tell me where I was standing when I took this photo. No prizes for this one, just bragging rights (and an opportunity to become a character in our very own comic strip.)

You were standing on the sidewalk in front of the Valero gas station on North De Anza Boulevard. The closest intersection is De Anza and Stevens Creek. You're facing, approximately, 10041 North De Anza Boulevard, which is west of the gas station. Judging by the zoom, you could also be standing in the middle of the road, but I think it would be safer to stand on the sidewalk. You were standing to the back to the gas station, and you were on the De Anza Boulevard side of the gas station.

Yes, you're right, I was at the Valero gas station. How did you figure it out? What gave it away?

Anne, It was a top contender, and voted one of the ugliest buildings in Silicon Valley, a few years back, I think by the Mercury News. It is hard not to see it.
