A stick, cardboard box, string, cardboard tube and, naturally, dirt top the Five Best Toys of All Time for GeekDad blogger Jonathon Liu. As cheap and convenient as are his favorite choices, we're wondering what tops your list?
What are you buying in the stores for your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews? Or are you headed out to the recycle bin to pick through for some of Liu's favorites?
Liu's blog on Wired.com posted almost a year ago but is seeing a resurgence on Facebook, maybe because 'tis the season for all things toys.
You can track the most popular toys selling on Amazon right now on its Best Sellers in Toys and Games Page. Number one on the list right now is a board game, Quirkle.
At Campbell's , sales associate Carrie Mundy says the most popular toy is the same year round: arts and crafts.
"It always seems to be the big one," Mundy says.
The most popular are the Klutz projects. These include kits for do-it-yourself jewelry boxes, pick-up sticks, doodle journals, even safety pin bracelets.
According to the National Retail Federation's Top Toys Survey, this year's top toys include a tried-and-true leggy-one herself—Barbie—video games, Legos and, our neighborhood tech giant's toys for all ages the iPod and iPad.
