Poll: What's Your All-Time Favorite Toy?

'Tis the season that toys are on everyone's minds, as kids write letters to Santa and parents tussle over the hottest items. Take our poll on your favorite all-time toy and add your love in the comments!

A stick, cardboard box, string, cardboard tube and, naturally, dirt top the Five Best Toys of All Time for GeekDad blogger Jonathon Liu. As cheap and convenient as are his favorite choices, we're wondering what tops your list?

What are you buying in the stores for your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews? Or are you headed out to the recycle bin to pick through for some of Liu's favorites?

Liu's blog on Wired.com posted almost a year ago but is seeing a resurgence on Facebook, maybe because 'tis the season for all things toys.

You can track the most popular toys selling on Amazon right now on its Best Sellers in Toys and Games Page. Number one on the list right now is a board game, Quirkle.

At Campbell's , sales associate Carrie Mundy says the most popular toy is the same year round: arts and crafts.

"It always seems to be the big one," Mundy says.

The most popular are the Klutz projects. These include kits for do-it-yourself jewelry boxes, pick-up sticks, doodle journals, even safety pin bracelets.

According to the National Retail Federation's Top Toys Survey, this year's top toys include a tried-and-true leggy-one herself—Barbie—video games, Legos and, our neighborhood tech giant's toys for all ages the iPod and iPad.

Walk us down your memory lane and tell us what your favorite toy was when you were a kid. Take our poll or post a comment if you don't see your choice in the poll.

I got from Santa one year a baby doll and she was pudgy looking and I named her Fatty. I always had to have my Fatty doll with me. Then I received a Shirley Temple doll (which certainly "dates me"), but she always took second place. I loved my Fatty more than Shirley.

I can't believe mud is not listed! Fine, I'll settle for Legos

What a cute name—Fatty! I loved Shirley Temple movies when I was a little girl so Fatty must have been some special doll to beat out dimpled Shirley!

Chris, I know you're not a "mud slinger" so you can still vote for mud as your favorite! ;)
