Rooftops of Tehran, Farmers' Market, MV Football And More

MV Football is hot this fall, check it out along with other nearby activities tonight through Sunday.

Where/When: , 10800 Torre Ave, Cupertino, Thursday, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

Why Go: This month, the Cupertino Library Adult Book Discussion Group will read Rooftops of Tehran by Seraji Mahbod. The novel concerns the lives of young people in an Iran  heading toward its religious revolution in 1980. The adult book discussion group meets on the third Thursday evening of each month in the Library Story Room. Adults of all ages are welcome.

Where/When: Sears parking lot at Vallco Shopping Center, Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Why Go: A weekly event, the outdoor market atmosphere only gets better as summer turns into fall harvest. Beat the afternoon heat and do some shopping through the wide array of vendors that sell everything from beets to fresh-cut flowers.

Where/When: 4805 Westmont Ave., Campbell, Friday, 7:30 p.m. 

Why Go: The Monta Vista High football team is off to an 2-0 start and will hit the road to face Westmont High-Campbell this Friday night. Monta Vista blasted Prospect High 50-0 last Friday after a 41-14 victory over Overfelt High in week one. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday night in Campbell. Westmont lost it's season opener last Thursday to Independance High, 21-6.

Where/When: 1 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, Friday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Rascal Flatts brings their country rockin' roots to the Bay Area this weekend at the Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View.  Sara Evans and Justin Moore will open for the veteran country trio that has been churning out hits for more than a decade.

Pricing: Ticket prices range from $28-$76. 

Where/When: 51 S. San Antonio Rd, Los Altos,  Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Why Go: This two-day event features elaborate electric and steam powered train track layouts of model railroads, a station featuring train-themed activities for young children, food vendors, and more. The event is free, but a small donation per family is recommended.
