San Jose Police Spokesman Albert Morales stated in an email that reports of a gunman on campus at San Jose City College were unfounded and the incident is now over.
"The campus is secure and everyone is safe," Morales said.
The original source of the information is unknown and could not be identified, he said.
Update: 7:35 p.m. Dec. 18
According to an email sent out by San Jose Police Spokesman Albert Morales, police had still not located a gunman or anyone reporting to have been injured and/or threatened as of 7:00 p.m.
"The source of the original “911” call is still being investigated," Morales said. "There are still no reports of anyone hearing gunshots."
Once again, information provided by a witnesses is still unconfirmed, he said.
All buildings and classrooms involved in the report are being searched and people are being evacuated by police officers at the scene.

San Jose Police has confirmed that it is currently assisting the San Jose City College Police Department search for a reported gunman on campus.
"Several people have called into our “911” call center to report they were told to lockdown due to a gunman on school campus," San Jose Police Spokesman Albert Morales said in a release. "As of 6:00 pm today there have been no reports of anyone injured or threatened. In addition, no gunman has been located and no one has reported any gunfire."
According to Morales, San Jose Police and San Jose City Police are actively searching buildings. All the information provided to the police's “911” call center is what Morales calls "third-hand information" and no one that police has contaced has confirmed seeing a gunman.
NBC Bay Area reported that calls came in to police as early as 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. ABC7 reported that "the school's 9,000+ students were alerted of the lockdown via text message through the school's emergency alert system.The system also notified teachers in classrooms."
San Jose City College Police Department is the lead agency in this case and SJPD will continue to provide assistance until "we render the entire incident safe for all involved," Morales said.
The investigation is ongoing and no other information is being released at this time.
