Facebook announced a new feature called “Graph Search” on Tuesday and promised users' settings would not be modified in the process, the company said.
The social media company has been working on optimizing its search functionality, since Mark Zukerberg announced it would focus on refining its mobile products last year. The new search will be designed to simulate asking your friends a question all at the same time, according to people familiar with the matter.
The search will include about a billion Facebook users, and is designed to give you an answer not links that take you to where you can find the answer.
The new feature will be rolled out soon. It is currently in a closed testing phase.
