Welcome Betsy Miller, Our Newest Local Voices Blogger

Miller will write about research, writing, publishing and other related topics.

Betsy Miller is the newest member of Cupertino Patch's contributor team. She's a technical writer and author.

She'll mostly be writing about writing. That and all that goes into it—the process, research, publishing and anything else that goes into the craft.

For her first blog she gives us an introduction to PlaneTree Health Information Center, which is located in Cupertino Library. It's a wonderful resource right in the heart of the community—and it's free.

Miller wants to know what you think of this first blog post, and get some ideas from readers about what interests you. Please take our poll and leave some feedback in the Comments Section.

And please join me in welcoming Betsy Miller!

You might have mentioned the various web resources and your opinion on their relative merits. I use webmd.com, aarp.com and healthonline.com; Of course all, present ads of dubious value, so you need to keep your guard up.

Thanks for the suggestion, Dave. You're right, there are a lot of web resources. I only mentioned a couple in my post--the NIH and PubMed, both of which are reliable. One of the nice things about going to PlaneTree or other community health libraries is that the staff can help you evaluate online health resources so you can find the ones that are most helpful to you.

Betsy: I think you and Anne are onto something great here... lots of interesting issues to write about that will help focus community discourse. Anytime you want to take on my Poetry Circle or the Y's Brown Bag lunch events for chewing on, let me know. Welcome namesake! Ron Miller, AOA Specialist, NW YMCA
