Not just good BBQ; GREAT BBQ in Cupertino

While I write most of my food reviews on Yelp it is compelling to speak up about Louisiana Smokehouse on Hwy 9, Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road / aka So. De Anza Blvd.

Chef Mo is a real talent and his food is as close to southern magic as it gets in our area of California - IMHO.

I recommend you start by having the brisket with coleslaw side and corn bread. Mo’s BBQ sauce is amazing; you will find the coleslaw to be non-mayonnaise based which will catch Californians off guard, it is vinegar based and delicious, the corn bread is a little on the sweet side which is consistent with the south. Once you have tried the brisket move on to the pulled port sandwich drenched in coleslaw and then try the sausage.

Yes; the menu is much more than meats which include Jambalaya, Etouffee, Gumbo, a very good cucumber salad, Mac & Cheese, etcetera. . .

Once you are ready and your lips are crying for more – then you step up your game to Mo’s ribs with fries and slaw. These ribs are served dry with a side of Smokehouse BBQ sauce. Why dry? Well; not everyone likes ribs with sauce. The true aficionado of down home ribs likes the smoke and meat flavors without sauce. Me – give me that sauce.

This is not west of the Mississippi grilling folks, this is the real deal, down home cooked Louisiana BBQ done by a Master Chef and Sous Chef who know their game.

Oh yes; they cater and there is a rumor going around of cooking classes in the near future.
