Guess Where I Was When I Took This Photo?

How well do you know Cupertino? Tell me where I was standing when I took this photo.

Last week's  brought out a new sleuth, Angelia. Right away she knew the building in the photo was the old S&G building. How she got it so quickly, I'm not quite sure.

She says she was there in that parking lot just a few weeks ago and it just clicked when she saw the photo.

I fully expect this week's to be a breeze. Not that I'm not trying to stump all y'all, it's just that for all these months I think I have the one that will finally have you all throwing up your hands and begging me to tell you where I was only to have the answer staring me in the face in the Comments section first thing in the morning.

For those who are new to the game, Guess Where I Was When I Took This Photo is purely for giggles. I take a picture of what I think is a bland-looking building (or a portion of it) while standing somewhere in Cupertino. Then I ask readers to show off how well they know Cupertino by identifying the building or rather the spot where I was standing when I took the picture.

A reminder,  for Mason McCarty's comic strip. His character

Let the guessing (or identifying) begin!

Seeing as there is no picture I'm willing to guess its a picture of your invisible castle haha. Am I right? :)

Wait!!! There is an another invisible castle in Cupertino? Wow, how cool is that!
Michelle Fitzsimmons June 10, 2012 at 04:21 PM
invisible?? don't know what you guys are talking about (haha). now that you can see it, where is this??
Mason Mccarty June 10, 2012 at 05:36 PM
I know this...but I wont say anything. But for some reason i'm starting to get hungry ;)

ooohhh, very sneaky, mason! dropping hints, are we?
Mason Mccarty June 10, 2012 at 07:29 PM

OK Mason, go ahead give another hint. I screwed up and didn't attach the photo—though I wish I would have thought of the invisible castle idea as a cover up for my boo-boo—but it's there now. So, what are you hungry for???
Mason Mccarty June 11, 2012 at 06:20 AM
I'm not that hungry anymore but for some reason I have the sudden urge to jump some 'Texas speed bumps' in my car ;)

It's Armadillo Willy's! Get table without Mason's hints, but not without the picture! Funny, but true - when this was posted last week without a picture, I was going to make a joke about it being inside a walk-infreezer, and the first place that came to mind was... Wait for it... Armadillo Willy's.
Anne Ernst (Editor) June 17, 2012 at 04:53 PM
HA! It's not Armadillo Willy's!
Bob M June 17, 2012 at 08:45 PM
Yes, cannot be Armadillo Willy's because they have no parking right up against the building. It also is not Aqui, Smoke Eaters, Chipotle, the Outback or such place. Not sure if Mason is on track with Texas places. The keys are the parking right up against the building, newly painted (rust red over white base) and new metal flashing (downspouts and roof flashing) and since it has a handicap spot in the picture, they are typically closest to the entrance. That is what we are looking for.

You're right it's not Armadillo Willies but that still didn't stop me from 'buying' all the ingredients for my BBQ yesterday. Since it was 'roasting' near outer 'Mongolia' I felt the energy being 'sucked' out of me so I sought refuge for a quick bite to eat so it would 'dim sum' of my hunger away. After that I felt pretty 'gassed' so my friends Steven and Judy took me back home. (Now if this doesn't produce a guess I don't know what will haha)

Aha... It's the side of the little corner grocery store at Stevens Creek and Tantau. Should have gotten this sooner, although I think the only time I've ever been at this strip mall was to get a belt for a vacuum cleaner. I had been eyeing the sign on the front of this store back when the mystery location was the Village Falafel sign, so I should have gotten this earlier!

There are some really good restaurants in that strip mall, David. We ate at two of them in Cupertino's Dish Crawl. (Oh, and congratulations on the correct guess—again!)
