Last Silicon Valley Blogger Blogs at Last

Your newest Cupertino Patch blogger introduces herself, with expectations of going viral by Thursday. Or maybe just settling on a really good haircut ...

Now that I've started blogging, there are only 42 people left in Silicon Valley who don't have a blog.  And they were all born last night.

Yup, every 6th-grader at my kid's middle school has a blog.  I hope to have fewer misspellings in mine, though.

The point of my blog is to ... oh, come on. There is no lofty reason for blogging. It's just a narcissistic notion that people will flock to my blog, because of all the bloggers, I'm the one that stands out.  I've got such pithy thoughts and humorous musings, I'll go viral by Thursday.

And I'm happy that I'll be going viral on the Cupertino Patch. Although a Sunnyvale resident, the condo I bought back in the late '80s was in the side of Sunnyvale in the Cupertino Union School District. At the time, I was a wild and single young thing, concerned with pressing questions like, "Where does a gal find men who can dance?" and "Which Lean Cuisine frozen dinner should I have tonight?"  Paying more for that condo because it was in CUSD was not a happy choice for me.

Fast forward a few years, and I'm married and have a kid. We trade up for a little house in CUSD, and suddenly I'm stunned by my brilliant foresight.

Next thing ya' know, I'm entertaining second-graders with a Passover rap and dropping parcel tax fliers on doorsteps. My husband becomes an elementary school site council president and then a  middle school volleyball and soccer coach. We spend seven years coaching, managing, and cheering Cupertino Girls Softball League games. Despite our Sunnyvale address, we have transformed into bona fide Cupertino residents, as proven by our overdue charges at the Cupertino Library.

I look forward to sharing with you my observations and thoughts, about local and non-local topics. Hopefully, I'll have some fun writing, and you'll have some fun reading, about everything from how slowly the car pickup line moves at Meyerholz elementary school on a rainy day to how fast the Santa Clara County Tax Collector's office cashes that property tax check. But like my future Broadway musical, this blog is not about me. Hopefully, it will be all about you.
