Employee-Only Memorial for Steve Jobs is Treated to Coldplay and Norah Jones

A celebration-of-life service to honor Steve Jobs held Wednesday was for Apple employees only.

A private employee-only memorial service in honor of Steve Jobs held Wednesday at Apple’s headquarters may not have had the media frenzy brought on by his death Oct. 5, but it created heavy car and pedestrian traffic before and after the service.

Rock group Coldplay could be heard from the sidewalk on Mariani Avenue playing “Yellow” and “Fix You,” and according to the New York Times, Norah Jones also performed in the packed outdoor interial amphitheater at Apple’s headquarters.

Employees filed out of the Infinite Loop building shortly after noon holding ecru-colored memorial programs with “Remembering Steve” on the front.

The memorial was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and was broadcast to all Apple buildings for those who were unable to attend the service in person, and Apple retail stores were shuttered temporarily for the event.

Those who reportedly spoke include CEO Tim Cook, design chief Jonathon Ive and former U.S. vice president Al Gore, according to USAToday and others.

Giant banners of Jobs were hung around the space where hundreds of employees gathered to celebrate their leader’s life.

The memorial wasn't effected by a small protest by an that broke up about the same time the memorial started.
