Thomas Fogarty Pours at the International Culinary Center's First Wine Dinner

The Culinary school in Campbell is offering a chance to be served wine by a winery owner or wine maker and have your meal described by the sommelier.

in Campbell is hosting a series of wine dinners that offers local foodies another place to take a seat.

Kicking off the series is "Pairing Series: Thomas Fogarty Winery," with Thomas Fogarty, son of the founder and current owner presenting.

Each event costs $100 per ticket and lasts three hours, starting with a one hour presentation on the principles of food and wine pairing, philosophy of the wine and winery (by the winery owner or wine maker depending on the event), and a professional tasting during the seminar led by a master sommelier (before the pairing), International Culinary Center spokesman Paul Brady said in an email.

There will also be a three-course meal paired with three wines—each described by the sommelier, Brady said.

The series runs through the year and will highlight wineries across the San Francisco surrounding area, including Sonoma, Napa and Santa Cruz. The first three will all be from Santa Cruz.

To look up upcoming events, click on "Classes for Fun" on the school's website. All events will be held in The International Culinary Center's private dining room, the Monte Bello, on the second floor.

It's difficult to know what's going on in a kid's mind unless they feel confident enough to open upRead More and talk. And this program helps us adults to learn to listen differently.

I too was at this Challenge Day. It was my 6th. I first volunteered because I watched the programRead More on MTV "If You Really Knew Me" when my son was being severely bullied in middle school and saw the program was offered when he was a freshman in high school. My company strongly supports me volunteering for this and allows me to take the day off work to attend. I am continually humbled by what these teens share and saddened at what some of them have experienced in their short lives. This program is so valuable. I think every school should offer it and every parent should attend. It helps us to realize that we need to think twice before we judge or assume things about others when we know nothing about them. It is the volunteering opportunity that I look forward to participating in every year.
