Wear a Black Turtleneck on Friday in Steve Jobs' Memory

It's unofficially official—Friday, Oct. 14 is the day to dress like Steve Jobs. Send us a pic of your best Jobsian look.

Slip into something black Friday—preferably a black turtleneck, jeans and sneakers—and be a part of a movement honoring Silicon Valley's golden child, Steve Jobs.

Depending on which group you follow, "Steve Jobs Day" or "Wear Black for Steve Day" people are encouraged to honor Jobs by dressing like Steve, and talking about Steve; the latter of which has been ongoing

CNET points to the "Wear Black" project as "a couple of guys on Facebook with a simple Web page that asks everyone to wear a black shirt" Friday. The Inquisitr has the "Steve Jobs Day"which also has a Facebook page—attributed to "a group of workers at Atlanta digital advertising studio Studiocom Inc."

Whether the movements are related somehow is unclear, but "Steve Jobs Day" says it launched its project on Sept. 23, 2011,  "as a thank you to a man whose work has impacted so many lives." They were beat to the wardrobe closet by "Dress Up Like Steve Jobs Day," a Facebook page that called for honoring "the ongoing legacy of Steve Jobs" by asking people to, yes, dress like Jobs on Sept. 9, 2011.

The groups want to see pictures of those donning Jobs' signature black turtleneck—the reason behind his obsession with the top is reportedly explained in the upcoming Warren Isaacson biography, according to the L.A. Times—and so do we.
