Be Happy. Be Healthy.

Arm yourself with health and wellness tips and tricks at the annual Health Fair at the Forum Retirement Community in Cupertino.

The health and wellness of seniors are important issues for our aging society within our community. Teaching our seniors healthy lifestyle habits means more people will live active, productive lives for many years to come. Eating right and getting plenty of exercise are a big part of the picture, but so is access to educational resources.

Seniors can take a proactive step to safeguard their health by visiting and educating themselves at the eighth-annual Health Fair at The Forum Retirement Community in Cupertino. On Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., more than 50 displays and exhibits featuring information and resources for seniors will be showcased at this spectacular event.

With a theme of “Be Happy. Be Healthy.” this free fair is focused on healthy lifestyles for seniors, ages 60 plus, and is open to the public. The health fair will feature food demonstrations by Bill Mott, food and beverage director at The Forum and gold-medal winner for culinary excellence, as well as mini-makeovers, wellness screenings, belly dancing, yoga and Zumba demonstrations. If music is your thing, you are in luck, because the Dixieland Band will be in the house.

“We are excited to present a variety of resources to promote healthy living,” said Nancy Kao, executive director at the retirement community. “We invite everyone to join our residents for a fun event.”

With an excellent collection of booths that feature representatives from various health organizations and exhibits dedicated to a specific health condition and how to treat it, health fairs for seniors revolve around issues that seniors constantly face. The Health Fair at the Forum will offer clear and simple resources for seniors on how to tackle current health problems and prevent new ones.

"We expect around 600 people at this year's event," said Jean Newton, director of community relations. The event is open to the public, but probably not as appropriate for younger children.

Learn what can be done to make the lives of seniors better and extend their most healthy, vibrant and active years.
