Health and Wellness Gifts for Mom

Honor the Mom in your life this Mother’s Day with a gift that will help her relax, rejuvenate and revitalize her body and soul.

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, now is the time to think about how we will honor the special women in our lives. Mothers so often put themselves last on the totem poll—taking care of the needs of their children or spouse well before those of their own.

This year, why not give the gift of health and wellness to your wife, your mother, your mother-in-law or your sister--all of who deserve some pampering and “me time” once in a while.

Living a fit lifestyle is not just about exercising all the time. Rather, it’s about finding the balance between physical, mental and spiritual health. Here are a few ideas for that will help bring a sense of balance to the busy lady in your life.

Massage: A massage gift certificate is always a big hit among women. Give her the opportunity to relax, revitalize and rejuvenate with a therapeutic massage at , located right here in Cupertino.

Facial: Another gift she will surely love is a gift certificate for a facial. in Cupertino offers 20 years of continually progressive expertise and specializes in natural skin rejuvenation.

Manicure/Pedicure: There is no shortage of nail salons in Cupertino. Drive around and you’ll notice a nail salon every few blocks! Why not treat your Mom to a mani/pedi? Check out or for gift certificates.

Yoga gift certificate: After a yoga class, Mom will leave the studio ready to take on the day. Yoga can reprogram the body and mind, making it easier to deal with the stressors of daily life. Yoga at Cindy’s offers a variety of yoga styles to choose from.

Gym membership: If she doesn’t already have one, the active mom will appreciate the gift of joining a gym. Yes, sometimes these can be a bit pricey, but with all the great choices right here in Cupertino, you are sure to find a gym to match your budget. I’ve written an article in the past on gym’s in Cupertino, so for a complete list, check out .

Tennis lessons: Another great gift for the active mom—tennis lessons. She can brush up on her game and get in shape at the same time. Choose from  .

Pedometer: A pedometer makes an excellent gift for the active walker who would like to track their steps, mileage and calories. in Cupertino sells pedometers in the athletic area.

Walking shoes: The best way to start any fitness routine is to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. Give the gift of a pair of comfortable walking shoes, or if you are not sure about size, a gift certificate will do. Go to . in Cupertino.

Gardening basket: Not all women are crazy about traditional exercise. Some may maintain their fitness level through activities such as gardening or yard work. If this sounds like your Mom, put together a gardening gift basket filled with tools, cute gloves, bulbs, annuals and if the budget allows, a gift card to your local nursery. Yamagami's Nursery in Cupertino can help you choose an appropriate gift.

Coupon book: If money is tight, why not create a coupon book? The opportunities are endless when making your own coupons. You can offer to help with dishes for a week (if that is her regular chore), clean the house, wash her car, give her a foot massage, take care of the kiddos for an extra shift—the list goes on.

Remember, Mother’s Day is not about how much money you spend on extravagant gifts—it’s about spending quality time with the special women in your life and showing them you care and appreciate all they have done for you.

It's difficult to know what's going on in a kid's mind unless they feel confident enough to open upRead More and talk. And this program helps us adults to learn to listen differently.

I too was at this Challenge Day. It was my 6th. I first volunteered because I watched the programRead More on MTV "If You Really Knew Me" when my son was being severely bullied in middle school and saw the program was offered when he was a freshman in high school. My company strongly supports me volunteering for this and allows me to take the day off work to attend. I am continually humbled by what these teens share and saddened at what some of them have experienced in their short lives. This program is so valuable. I think every school should offer it and every parent should attend. It helps us to realize that we need to think twice before we judge or assume things about others when we know nothing about them. It is the volunteering opportunity that I look forward to participating in every year.
