$163,000 Worth of Apple Products Target of Heist

The Fry's Electronics on Hamilton Avenue in Campbell was robbed Wednesday night.

on Hamilton Avenue in Campbell was robbed Wednesday night, Campbell Police Capt. Charley Adams said, the thieves taking nearly 300 Apple products with them.

Valued at $163,000, hundreds of iPods, iPads and iPhones were stolen from the electronics store around 12:15 a.m., he said.

According to the police log, the suspects, somewhere between two and five, pried open the front exit door, pried open the electronics cage and stole numerous iPads, iPhones and iPods.

Investigators believe that these items will likely soon show up for sale on eBay and Craigslist, the Campbell Police Department press release stated.

"This is the largest theft in this location that I know of," Adams said.

According to the police log, the suspects fled through a hole they had cut in the east fence to an awaiting car on the southbound Hwy. 17 onramp. The suspects were caught on video returning two more times later in the night to steal more merchandise.

The Campbell Police Department is asking the public to be extremely cautious of purchasing iPads, iPods, and iPhones from individual sellers and locations other than legitimate storefront retail locations, the release stated. The risk of receiving stolen property through individual online sales is high.

"We are making this public notification in an effort to protect the public from involvement in a criminal investigation and from risk of arrest for receiving and possessing stolen property," the release said.

Campbell Police are still investigating this incident, along with Fry’s loss prevention team, and the regional Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team task force and although it is something police always look into, "there is no evidence that it is an inside job," Adams said.

Anyone with information about this theft may contact the Campbell Police Department Investigations Unit at 408-866-2184.

For those with information whom wish to remain anonymous, information and tips can be provided through the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Tip line 408-947-STOP (7867).
