Barnhart Avenue Fire Costs Owner Thousands

A fire in a building detached from the home on Barnhart Avenue caused about $15k worth of damage.

A fire broke out Sunday afternoon in the 18000 block of Barnhart Avenue in Cupertino cost thousands of dollars in damage and property loss to the owners.

The Santa Clara County Fire Department estimated about $10,000 in property loss and $5,000 in content loss.

The call came in to fire department at 4:40 p.m. and a crew was at the site in two minutes. Eight units responded to the fire which occurred in a building attached to the carport in front of the home on Barnhart Avenue. The building is detached from the home and is a combination storage and laundry room.

There were no injuries in the fire which is believed to have been started by something electrical, but has not been investigated fully, a spokesperson with the Santa Clara County Fire Department said.
