Bold Bank Robbery Near Cupertino's Town Center Wednesday Prompts Sheriff's Appeal For Tips

Police say any unusual detail the public can recall while in the town center area Wednesday afternoon could aid the investigation.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in providing witness information connected to the robbery a U.S. Bank Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, at about 2:42pm, two men sentered the US Bank located in the 10000 Block of De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino near town center, according to Sheriff's Deputy Kurt Stenderup, and took an undisclosed amount of money.

No weapon was seen during the robbery, Deputy Stenderup said. The male suspects fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.

Police, who are still going through images on the surveillance cameras, are not releasing complete suspect descriptions at this time, Stenderup said. They are, however, hoping that the public will assist with any details they might have witnessed.

"The area is busy enough at that time of day that people probably saw something," Stenderup said. If anyone saw anything suspicious at that time, he encouraged the public to contact law enforcement.

"You'd be surprised," Stenderup said, "you see something and think 'That's weird,' and then blow it off— but it could be a detail sheriff's deputies can use."

Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed this incident is being asked to contact Detective Sergeants Paula McAllister or Dave Roberts at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office at (408) 808-4500 or the anonymous tip line at (408) 808-4431.
