Car Fire in Cypress Hotel Garage Temporarily Disrupts Traffic

Traffic was not allowed between Cypress Hotel and Seagate while firefighters doused a car fire in the hotel's garage.

A car fire in the garage of the on De Anza Boulevard Wednesday morning held up traffic in and around the Seagate building, witnesses said.

The fire began about 8:45 a.m., according to Maria X. Streeby, general manager of Cypress Hotel.

Santa Clara County Fire Department received an alarm at 8:52 a.m. and reported three units dispatched initially, with an additional unit arriving several minutes later.

Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies redirected traffic out of the alleyway between the Cypress garage and the Seagate building.

There were no reported injuries, and the fire was contained to the one vehicle, the make and model of which is unknown at this time. Streeby refused to allow Patch inside the garage to take photos or confirm other details of the fire.

"We had an incident in our garage, and the building is resuming normal operations," Streeby said. "Our main concern is our guest and employee safety."

The fire department set up a large fan inside the ground level of the garage to blow smoke out of the building.
