DUI Checkpoints Begin Friday Night in Cupertino

Sheriff's deputies will be looking for impaired drivers starting at 7 p.m.

As Thursday looks at Friday an after-work end-of-the-week micro-brew sounds pretty good right now. Well, get yourself a designated driver because the Sheriff’s office will be out in force Friday night conducting sobriety checks in Cupertino.

Keep the beers, cocktails and other impairing frivolities to a minimum because from 7 p.m. Aug. 19 to 2 a.m. Aug. 20 deputies will set up shop at checkpoints in the city looking for impaired drivers.

“Our objective is to send a clear message to those considering mixing alcohol and/or drugs with driving … the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office will be keeping a watchful eye out for you,” said Sgt. Troy Smith, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s spokesman.
