Early Morning Fire at Monta Vista High Out Before First Bell

No injuries occurred in fire that caused an estimated $10k in damage to a maintenance area.

A fire broke out in a maintenance area on Monta Vista High School’s campus early Monday morning and was under control before school started, officials said.

There were no injuries and the school’s regular class schedule was uninterrupted though a traffic delay occurred, according to an email from Polly Bove, superintendent of Fremont Union High School District.

The cause of the fire was an “electrical failure” within an overhead lighting fixture, fire officials said.
