Update as of 11 a.m.: The big rig, a Sysco food vending company truck, was travelling southbound on Foothill Boulevard in the No. 2 lane, just before Stevens Creek Boulevard, according to Santa Clara County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Jose Cardoza.
An adult female—described to police by witnesses as “elderly”—was walking westbound at a marked crosswalk at Foothill and Cupertino Road. She started crossing Foothill at the east end of the crosswalk. The accident occurred in the No. 2 lane.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear at this time to be a factor in the accident and the driver of the truck has been cooperative throughout the investigation, Cardoza said.
